New York City’s Best Bagels

Bagel

I think all bagel lovers have found their favorite bagel bakery in New York, despite the city’s overwhelming options. Here are some of the most popular places.

Ess-A-Bagel, 359 First Avenue

With hand-rolled, big, low-salt bagels like cinnamon-raisin, honey grain and sesame, this spot in Gramercy Park are many New Yorkers all time favorite. Opt for the appetizing tofu spread or choose between several yummy cream cheeses.

Lenny’s Bagels, 2601 Broadway

Lenny’s at Broadway’s Upper West Side offers bagels with terrific crusts from sunrise to late, and if you buy 12 of them you will get 6 free. I recommend a tasty oat-bran bagel with tofu-scallion cream cheese or the sundried-tomato cream cheese. No risk for disappointments.

Murray’s Bagels, 500 Avenue of the Americas

In this Greenwich Village bakery, locals call the hand-rolled bagels ”boats” because of their impressive size. Pumpernickel and poppy are the best sorts and the topping combinations won’t let you down. Murray’s doesn’t toast their bagels, but the people who know that the real deal should be eaten fresh don’t care.

Absolute Bagels, 2788 Broadway

Step off the subway at Cathedral Parkway Station at 110th Street and enter this spacious place which is popular among Columbia students. Absolute Bagels has light and large bagels with a kind for almost every taste.
