Race to it
We are moving into the stage of 2016 where people no longer say ‘Happy New Year’ – the cut off point has ended. As a result a lot of people will be looking to book events and holidays over the year to simply get into the swing of the new year. One such event could be getting out in the open and experiencing some horse racing events – one of them is Cheltenham as it is one of the iconic of the calendar year. We look at places to stay during the festival as well as a quick look at some Cheltenham Festival tips.
Straight into the favourites for Cheltenham there are many bookmakers out there with conflicting offers, Bookies.com delivers a round up of the offers and events that are on the marketplace and is a great place to start. The festival doesn’t start until the 15th March but at Bookies.com one of their many tips of the day for the current Cheltenham races include Petite Power and Churchtown Champ. Continue to check these sites over the next two months to catch Cheltenham Festival Tips so you can prepare well.
Regarding accommodation there are obviously a wide range of options during the festival and before March in other daily events. There is a website called Central Hotel Cheltenham which focuses on that location soeley, although this site is a spin off from roomsbooked.com its still great to know that a site dedicated to that location exists. There is also Cheltenham Racing Accommodation which provides self catering and short/long stay rentals – you will almost certainly share the premises with a jockey as there will be an influx of them during the festival.
For cheap and cheerful why not try the Holiday Inn Express hotel in the town. Once a byword for poor standards Holiday Inn, Premier Inn and Travelodge have really improved in recent years and are now often the first consideration for the seasoned traveller. For something regarded as a bit posher why not consider the Hotel du Vin – facilities include a Spa as well as enjoying a quintessential english stay. As places may get booked prior to the event why not consider Gloucester or the nearby historic Oxford – both are superb alternatives.
The best suggestion is if you are planning to go to the festival in March, arrive with some Cheltenham festival tips and knowledge in the bag. I would advise to book as soon as possible as most people will now be looking to book events and enjoy themselves now the dust has settled on the New Year celebrations, the time is now!
